We now live in a world where everything is connected in some way, science and informational technologies continue to achieve new successes. Do you know the story of Linux? Linux is the first truly free Unix-like operating system. Many programs and utilities were contributed by developers around the world, and by 1991 most of the components of the system were ready. Linus Torvalds invented Linux itself. In 1991 Torvalds was a student at the University of Helsinki where he had been using Minix, a non-free operating system and began writing his own kernel. He started by developing device drivers and hard-drive access, and by September had a basic design that he called Version 0.01. This kernel which is called Linux, was afterwards combined with the GNU system to produce a complete free operating system. Just like Windows XP, Windows 8 and Mac OS X, Linux is an operating system. To say shortly-the operating system manages to the communication between your software and your hardware. Why use Linux? It is a question which that most people ask. If you are looking for one of the most reliable, secure, and dependable platforms for both the desktop and the server, so choose one of the Linux distributions. With Linux you can assure your desktops will be free of trouble, your servers up, and your support requests at a minimum.

Microsoft is an American corporation headquartered in Washington. Microsoft is a technology company that supports the invention of, manufacturers and licenses goods and services related to computing. Microsoft was invented from childhood friends, Paul Allen and Bill Gates. In January 1975, Paul Allen read an article about the Altair 8800 microcomputer in Popular Electronics magazine. He showed it to Bill, he offered his and Paul Allen’s services to write a version of a new Basic programming languages for the Altair.

On July 29, 1975, Bill Gates used the name “Micro-Soft” in a letter to Paul Allen to refer to their partnership. Microsoft Office including MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS project, etc, are used by individuals both in their personal and professional sphere. Almost all of us are familiar with Microsoft functions, almost every day we use MS Excel and MS Word. Microsoft is not just used by individuals but it is also very important for companies as well.

Now let’s study the last one` a brief history of Steve Jobs and Apple. The all started with Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Mike Markkula – in the late 1970’s they designed and marketed the Apple II series of computers. Within a few years, Apple is the technology that everyone wants to own. In 2007, appeared IPhone which took Apple from the major player to the company everyone was trying to emulate. Overnight, the IPhone reinvented cell phone technology, and it was yet another victory for Steve Jobs.
